2009
The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Climate Change was founded, consolidating environmental and agricultural functions under one institution for the first time in Puntland’s history.
2012
MoEACC introduced its first comprehensive environmental framework, outlining strategies for natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and land protection.
2016
Major programs focused on rainwater harvesting, watershed protection, and soil conservation were launched in collaboration with development partners.
2020
The ministry strengthened its climate change mitigation and adaptation plans, improving disaster preparedness and community resilience against droughts and floods.
2023
A new multi-year initiative was launched to restore degraded lands, protect ecosystems, and promote sustainable, climate-resilient agriculture across Puntland.
